Cameras and Crabs

I’ve been feeling conflicted about sharing our bedroom progress because I don’t have a camera and my trusty iphone is lacking. When I read other blogs and the bloggers are all the time like “sorry for the crappy iphone pic….I didn’t have my camera” I’m over here like oh ok my whole blog is crappy iphone pics. But that’s ok. I won’t feel bad because no one is paying me to do this.

So, we are officially moved upstairs. I’m in love with the space and I pick a new favorite part all the time. Sometimes I sit in the corner and I look into the bathroom and closet just because I can. I feel like I won a million bucks. So…here are some more snap shots from around the space…sorry for not a full reveal but I literally need to borrow a camera so I can get some wide angles and some better shots.

Oh wait, first I have to tell you this whole project hinged on whether or not we could get a king sized mattress upstairs…through this little staircase.

We made it work! …no mattresses were harmed in the making of this bedroom.

I’d like to do another post about the art we chose for the bedroom but for now I’ll share the one piece I made. I was really inspired by the two pieces in the top of the one below. I created the bottom piece just using what we had around the house. It’s painted on wood and my base color was actually the wall color.

Now, I need your help…. The mirrors flanking the bed….thoughts?

They remind me of crabs with their pinchers up. I also think they are probably too large? But sometimes I look at them and I think it looks good? I’m conflicted. Please advise. Also, sorry about that bed not being made….I had bigger fish to fry and I think it sort of looks like an ocean…which ties in with my watery painting and …you know …the crab pincher mirrors.

I can’t belive I’m a week late seeing the reveal. I blame bloglovin. Looks beautiful! I love the mirrors flanking the bed. I think they would feel more balanced and you may love them more if you got bigger nightstands. More like small dressers, so the nightstand would come out 3 or 4 inches on either side of the mirror. I am looking for matching or at least similar dressers like this on the cheap myself, so if I find something I will let you know. At the moment I think I am going to go with the $35 pine dressers from Ikea and do hack on them – paint, new pulls, trim, etc. and I figured if I hate them I didn’t spend too much.
